Stacy Wells

Stacy was drawn to Lander, Wyo., in 1997, with plans to stay a year to climb and ski in the mountains. However, she fell in love with the Lander community—and never left.

Stacy has worked for Wild Iris, local restaurants, the Lander Art Center, NOLS (in office and in the field as an instructor), and C.W.C., as well as being a self-employed artist painting murals, making jewelry, and teaching painting classes for schools and private groups. Stacy’s passion is getting women and children outside their comfort zone—climbing, biking, or facing other challenges—in a safe and organized space. In addition, her goal is to grow more advocates for wild places.

For over 20 years, Stacy has made creating outdoor experiences for Lander youth a priority—creating and implementing backpacking trips, outdoor camps, climbing and mountain-biking classes, and so much more. In addition, since 2007, Stacy has been an adjunct instructor for C.W.C.’s Alpine Science Institute’s Outdoor Program.

Stacy lives and works at the Alpine Science Institute with her husband and is getting used to being an empty nester with her only child off at college. On top of all her outdoor pursuits, Stacy also enjoys working with her hands, volunteering for Search and Rescue, listening to live music, traveling, and not acting her age.

Spending over half her life in Lander, Stacy feels fortunate to be able to share her passions with such a vibrant and talented community and is excited to now work with Womentum’s cohorts.
